posted by Erin Miller on September 19, 2011
in Adoption,Cats,Photos,Rescue
Silly Sibs Seek Someone Special
Mandu and Alazar are about one year old, and such sweet, silly little boys. Gorgeous gray tabby brothers, Mandu has silky medium length fur with white tummy and boots. His brother Alazar has a soft, striped gray tabby coat. These brothers absolutely love each other and love human companionship. They walk between you and your computer to get attention. They play together, share toys and food, and are funny little comedians. Fully vetted and ready to find their Forever Home – Mandu and Alazar would love to go together.
If you're interested in Mandu and/or Alazar, or any other PAWS pet, please contact PAWS at 440-442-PAWS or visit www.pawsohio.org.

Found female Calico – Fairlawn/Montrose area
posted by dan on September 9, 2011
in Lost and Found
This poor girl appears to have been a beloved pet that has been out there on her own for a long time. Extremely friendly – she showed up at the doors where I work, and refused to go away until people started petting her.
I hope we can find her original family, or maybe a new forever home!

Breed: Maine Coon – Domestic Long Hair (mix)
Gender: Male
Altered: Yes
Ref. no.: 050814R.
Let me start out by saying that I’m cute. I have some Maine Coon in me because I’m a big boy. I love to have my chest and tummy petted, which is good because I'm long haired and need to be brushed everyday. Please take that into consideration if you're thinking I can be your next family member. And while we’re talking about things to think about, I’m in remission for diabetes. Now don’t get your panties in a bunch. It just means I have to eat special food. I’m not on any medicines. But I’m well worth it because I’m cute. I would really like to be the only cat in the house as I have grown up being the only animal. I might let one other cat or cat-friendly dog in my world, but foster my mom can’t tell if I will or not. I'm 6 1/2 yrs old… (Please get me out of here…. she has a bunch of cats and dogs here.) To apply for adoption, please fill out an on-line application at www.saveohiostrays.org. SOS offers a “TWICE AS NICE” program – adopt one cat that is fixed, wormed and utd on shots for only $85, and your second cat is no charge! We Met Her At The Fair!
Mariah and several other siblings (since adopted) were all dumped at the fairgrounds. When PAWS found them, they weighed less than one pound each! Mariah is a beautiful tortie girl. A darling kitten, she is a fun loving, wonderful baby full of personality and energy. Mariah loves to play, run, climb and cuddle with other kitties, as well as people. She loves her foster brother, Mickey. Please consider adding this lovable little kitten to your life!

Colorado dog celebrated for having such long ears
posted by dan on September 6, 2011
in Dogs
Harbor, an 8 year old coonhound from Bolder Co. displays his winning ears after winning a Guinness World Record titlefor 2012 for the Dog With The Longest Ears in Bachelor Gulch, Co. (AP Photo/Ryan Schude/Guinness World Records)
Associated Press
BOULDER, Colo.: Harbor has over two feet of ears. Does that make him a 6-foot dog?
Probably not. But on Tuesday, the black-and-tan coonhound from Boulder, Colo., gets the 2012 Guinness World Records title for "longest ears on a living dog."
His left ear is 12.25 inches long and his right is 13.5 inches long.
Owner Jennifer Wert says when her 8-year-old was a puppy, he would trip on his ears and roll down stairs.
These days, Wert says people often stop them to ask questions, take photos or tug on his ears.
Tigger, a bloodhound from Illinois who died in 2009, still holds the record for longest ears ever. One was 13.5 inches long, the other 13.75 inches long.
Coonhounds use their ears to help with scent.

PAWS Pet of the Week: Meet Liesl!
posted by Erin Miller on August 30, 2011
in Adoption,Cats,Photos,Rescue
Bring The Sound Of Music into your life with lovely Liesl. She is a petite black short haired young lady, about one year of age. Liesl was rescued by a good Samaritan just before delivering a litter of adorable kittens. Everyone in the family is named after characters from The Sound of Music: Friedrich (adopted), Brigitta, Kurt, Gretl, etc. Perhaps you'd be interested in Liesl and one of her sweet babies, all of whom will be posted soon.
Liesl is very sweet and purry. She loves giving and getting affection but also plays with toys like a kitten. She’s doing great with her foster family’s cat and is currently observing their dog from a safe distance, but will probably adjust fine. Bring the sweet sound of purring Liesel into your life today.
If you're interested in Liesl or any other PAWS pet, please contact PAWS at 440-442-PAWS or visit www.pawsohio.org.

SOS Adoptable of the Day: Buster!
posted by Save Ohio Strays on August 25, 2011
in Adoption,Dogs,Rescue
Breed: Schipperke (mix)
Age: 7 yrs
Gender: Male
Altered: Yes
Ref. no.: 110808-2
Meet Buster, a 7 year old Schipperke mix. His family surrendered him to the pound and lucky for Buster, SOS stepped in to rescue him on his last days! Buster loves everybody no matter what shape or size, but is not a fan of other dogs (not sure of cats). He puts up with his foster brother and sisters but has requested that he is the only dog in his next family. He feels he should have all the love and attention in his forever home and what Schipperke wouldn't! Buster has a little weight problem and we are working on that, so you MUST be willing to continue with the weight loss and not fall for those beautiful brown eyes of his (he is very good with the sad puppy look). He LOVES going for walks and is a dream in the car! He is a bit of a door dasher and that is because he wants to be with you as much as possible. So if you are looking for a wonderfully well mannered little boy, come visit Buster and just fall in love with him! To apply for adoption, please fill out an on-line application at www.saveohiostrays.org. Save Ohio Strays does NOT claim or guarantee any breeds given in this description. SOS NEVER ships pets and will not adopt out to a driving radius greater than 3 hours from Medina, Ohio.
DON'T FORGET! – THIS SAT. AUG. 27-2:30-4:30 DOG WASH FUNDRAISER AT ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTRE IN MEDINA!
